The 2022 Basa, a blend of Verdejo with 10% Viura, fermented and matured in stainless steel. The warm year delivered aromas of ripe yellow fruit and herbs, pollen and some spices with a smoky twist (from the lees?) and a medium-bodied palate with good ripeness and freshness and moderate alcohol (13%). This was bottled without malolactic and is tasty and balanced. 480,000 bottles were filled in January 2023.

The 2021 Basa is the entry-level white from Rueda, produced with 90% Verdejo and 10% Viura, with 13% alcohol and a pH of 3.43. It fermented and matured exclusively in stainless steel. 2021 was very rainy but was healthier than 2020, and the wines from 2021 have good freshness. This is balsamic with notes of bay leaf and a medicinal touch. It's light to medium-bodied, balanced and fresh. There are 494,500 bottles of this.

Their entry-level white from Rueda, the 2020 Basa is a blend of approximately 90% Verdejo and 10% Viura and is slightly riper than previous years. It fermented and matured in stainless steel and was bottled unoaked. It's a slightly reductive, fruit-driven white, fresh, balanced, clean and easy to drink. 450,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2021.

Telmo always defines the 2019 Basa as one of their "bread and butter" wines, the volume and cashflow that allows them to do the top wines. 2019 delivered a very healthy crop and the blend of approximately 85% Verdejo and 15% Viura finished at 13% alcohol with a moderate pH. This is produced exclusively in stainless steel and bottled unoaked. I caught the wine in a very reductive phase, but the palate showed much better, with some chalky sensations and a dry finish. With time in the glass, the nose opens up and shows cleaner and more expressive. 600,000 bottles produced, one of the largest productions ever. It was bottled in December 2019.

Their bread-and-butter wine, with the largest production of the company that keeps the cash flowing, is their white from Rueda. When I tasted the recently bottled 2018 Basa, it was a little reductive so early in its life. You have to guide yourself by the palate in cases like this, and the wine is balanced with a soft texture, approachable and pleasant, easy to drink. 425,000 bottles produced.
