Aromas of raspberries and cherries mingled with hints of forest floor and raw cocoa introduce the 2020 Pommard Les Riottes, a medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated wine that concludes with a long, mineral finish. The vines in this site are suffering, yielding only a single barrel this year.

Less developed than its Volnay sibling due to a late malolactic fermentation, the 2019 Pommard Les Riottes mingles notes of plums and berries with hints of smoke and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, deep and elegantly muscular, there's more heft and substance here than in the corresponding Volnay, without any loss of refinement.

Aromas of cherries, red plums, orange rind and spices introduce Glantenay's 2018 Pommard Les Riottes, a medium to full-bodied, succulent and lively wine that's nicely concentrated and built around sappy acids and powdery tannins. This is a touch more red fruited than its more-voluptuous Volnay sibling this year.

The 2017 Pommard Les Riottes exhibits notes of cherries, raspberries, dark chocolate and spicy soil tones. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with more concentration and mid-palate volume than the Volnay Villages, its sappy core of fruit framed by fine, chalky tannins and juicy acids.

The 2016 Pommard les Riottes was completely destemmed and matured in used oak. It has quite a perfumed and elegant bouquet with blackberry, bilberry and smoky aromas, gentle but harmonious. The palate is looking promising with crisp and taut tannin, very well-judged acidity and a satisfying sucrosity toward the brisk finish tinged with blue fruit. This seems to improve in the glass and ends up being a really quite wonderful village cru.
