Mingling aromas of red berries and plums with hints of wintergreen, peonies, dark chocolate and spices, the 2019 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with a broad, enveloping core of fruit but also a rather more reserved, introverted profile than the Maréchaudes. It's a promising cuvée in the making.

Fleshy and gourmand, the 2018 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru evokes peonies, rose petals, red berries, cherries and loamy soil. Full-bodied, layered and velvety, it's sumptuous and enveloping, with an ample core of pure, succulent fruit framed by lively acids and powdery tannins.

The 2017 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru is lovely, wafting from the glass with notes of dark fruits, nori, licorice, rich soil, blood orange, rose hip and dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and satiny, its fine-grained tannins largely concealed in a gourmand core of succulent fruit, concluding with a saline, mineral finish. Long on complexity and character, this is a terrific Corton Bressandes.

The 2016 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru is also showing extremely well, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cassis, ripe plums, dark chocolate, dried flowers and spices. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and velvety, with a deep, layered core, succulent balancing acids and a long, intense and beautifully soil-driven finish. Cropped at 22 hectoliters per hectare, this is an exceptional Bressandes that will be well worth seeking out.
