Notes of raspberries, dried flowers, spices and orange rind introduce the 2019 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Vergelesses, a medium to full-bodied, supple and charming wine, framed by powdery tannins that assert themselves with gentle back-end grip.

The 2018 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Vergelesses offers up scents of sweet red berries, smoke, peonies, dark chocolate and rich soil tones, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and lively palate that's bright and charming, concluding with a long finish. This has turned out very nicely.

Notions of sweet red berries, plums, spices and citrus rind introduce the 2017 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Vergelesses, a medium-bodied wine with a pretty core of crunchy fruit that was hard to read when I tasted it, with some dissolved carbon dioxide drying out the back end. I'm confident that it will be considerably more charming in bottle.

The 2015 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Vergelesses displays just as much potential from bottle as it did from barrel, wafting from the glass with a complex bouquet of plums, chocolate, grilled squab and forest floor. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, rich and concentrated, its chassis of fine-grained tannins more assertive than the Savigny Lavières, its finish long and taut. This will need a few years in the cellar, but it will evolve into a beautiful bottle of Les Vergelesses.
