The 2014 Pernand Vergelesses les Vergelesses 1er Cru, which comes from ferrous clayey soils, has an elegant nose, quite cohesive with brambly red fruit mixed with white flowers and rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, plenty of citrus fruit and then instead of fanning out, it clams in on the structured finish, suggesting that three years in bottle would be the done thing.
