An assemblage of 85% Grenache and bits of Bourboulenc, Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Syrah, Ferrand's tank-aged 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape features attractive notes of star anise, roses, lavender and ripe cherries. It's full-bodied, rich, concentrated and rather extracted and tannic—give it a few years in the cellar.

A bit herbal on the nose, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape delivers flavors of strawberries, cherries and garrigue. A blend of 85% Grenache, 5% Mourvèdre, 4% each Bourboulenc and Syrah and 2% Cinsault, it's full-bodied, creamy and lush—a solid effort in an elegant, red fruited style unmarked by new oak.

The full-bodied 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape is a terrific effort from Domaine de Ferrand. Nearly 90% Grenache, with the balance a blend of other permitted varieties, it's concentrated and rich, with hints of allspice, anise and pepper adding nuance to the layers of ripe cherry and apricot fruit. Complex and velvety, this has it all.

Although Ferrand's 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape isn't that expressive on the nose, this full-bodied wine offers a richly textured mouthfeel, plenty of dark, plummy fruit and a long, velvety finish. There's a touch of warmth to this, so drink it over the next 5-8 years.
