The remarkable 2009 Cotes du Ventoux represents a sleeper selection. Composed of 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache, it exhibits a deep ruby/purple color as well as considerable black currant and black cherry fruit intermixed with hints of underlying smoke and jus de viande (meat juices). Ripe, heady, rich, and supple, it is much better than what one expects at this price point. Enjoy it over the next 1-2 years. These are two custom cuvees selected by American importer Peter Weygandt.Importer: Peter Weygandt, Weygandt-Metzler, Coatesville, PA; tel. (610) 486-0800; fax (610) 486-6452
