The grapes for the distinctive 1995 Lledoner Pelut VDP d'Oc, made from an ancient clone of Grenache, are grown in the Coteau du Libron. The wine exhibits a peppery, black fruit-scented nose, sweet, round, generous flavors, medium to full body, excellent purity, not a great deal of complexity, but plenty of depth and flesh. It is an up-front, delicious wine to drink over the next 2-3 years.I have written about Domaine de la Colombette in the past, and I am pleased to note that the current releases confirm this estate's high quality. The reasonable prices should not be ignored, particularly by readers looking for a fine value.Jeroboam Wines, New York, NY; tel. (212) 374-9415; fax (212) 925-6474
