This is a very pretty and pure expression of the Burgundian grape. The Erste+Neue 2019 Alto Adige Pinot Nero opens to aromas of wildflowers, lilac, wild berry, tangy raspberry and candied orange peel. The wine is both zesty and vivid, with lots of bright primary fruit to keep your interest and affection. The overall results are simple and fresh, but you get so much pretty varietal purity here. The fruit is sourced from a medium-altitude site (at 350 to 450 meters above sea level) with clay, limestone and flinty deposits. Production is 20,000 bottles, and you get terrific red wine value here.
