The 1993 Castelrapiti Rosso Vino da Tavola is a blend of 75% Sangiovese and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in small barriques, of which one-third are new. The wine is tannic and overlaid with wood, but enough cedar, spicy, redcurrant, cherry, and smoky, weedy, tobacco-like fruit come through to give it appeal. This well-made, medium-bodied Vino da Tavola is capable of lasting another 3-4 years. Located 25 miles from Florence, this winery has been producing wines for nearly a century.A Leonardo Lo Cascio Selection, Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
