The 2007 Boggina is Sangiovese from a small, old-vine parcel that Sanjust decided to bottle separately for the first time in this vintage. It is a pretty, perfumed wine, with attractive red fruit and silky tannins but the complexity, balance and personality of the estate’s finest wines seems missing. Today, the 2007 Boggina appears to be a fairly approachable, straightforward wine. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2019.
Proprietor Luca Sanjust and his team make some of the most sensual, pleasurable wines in Tuscany. Always intellectually curious, Sanjust continues to push the envelope, most recently with his 2001 sweet wine, essentially a Vin Santo that can’t be labeled as such since its residual sugar is far above the legally accepted limits.
