The 2015 Tresor is medium to deep garnet-purple colored and scented of crushed red and black currants and warm plums with hints of bay leaves, tilled soil and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied with a good amount of black fruits and a solid chewy frame, it finishes earthy. 8,000 cases produced.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the 2014 Tresor has a deep garnet color and nose of cassis, warm blackberries and mulberries with hints of cedar, menthol and cloves. Medium-bodied, there’s a good amount of expressive black currant and baking spice flavors in the mouth, with chewy tannins and an herbal lift on the finish.

The 2013 Tresor Proprietary Red is a Bordeaux-inspired blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. This wine does not have the power and sheer richness of the 2013 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, but is more approachable and seems to have more nuances and complexity at an earlier age. In addition to a dense purple color, beautiful sweet crème de cassis, blackberry and nicely integrated wood acidity and tannin, it has a touch of chocolate in the finish adding to the complexity. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

The 2011 Tresor is a strong effort in this frustratingly irregular vintage. It offers a dense ruby/purple color as well as a fresh, lively, black currant and black cherry-scented bouquet displaying a touch of incense and background oak. The wine hits the palate with an impressive display of rich, ripe, pure fruit, no hollowness or herbaceousness, well-integrated wood, and a medium to full-bodied, stylish, complex mouthfeel. Cellar this young, promising 2011 red for a few years and drink it over the following 10-15 years. Ferrari-Carano appears to have the correct formula for Fume Blanc. Perhaps I am a bit sentimental as it was my Mother’s favorite wine, and was the only wine with which I could ever get her slightly buzzed. Displaying a similar opaque ruby/purple color, the 2010 Tresor has a broader, richer, more skyscraper-like mouthfeel. It offers pure blackberry and black currant fruit intermixed with notions of incense, vanillin and spice. Full-bodied, rich and impressively endowed, it is a brilliant example of just how well Bordeaux varietals can do in selected Sonoma micro-climates. The fruit is so sweet that it can be appreciated now for its youth and exuberance, but ideally, it will benefit from another 2-3 years in the bottle. It should easily last for two decades.
