I found oak aromas and notes of raspberry liqueur on the nose of the single-vineyard red 2019 Gaminde. It's from a plot of Tempranillo that was planted in 1942 on clay and deep gravels that delivered a fruit-driven and round wine with subtle tannins and a sleek and polished palate. This matured in 100% new French oak barrels for 16 months. 5,000 bottles were filled in April 2021.

The 2017 Gaminde feels more harmonious despite also being marked by the vintage, with ripe black fruit and abundant tannins. The palate is juicy, medium to full-bodied with finer tannins than the Migortiz. It has an integrated and faint balsamic profile, coming through as modern and ripe. Gaminde is a vineyard planted in 1942 on clay and gravel soils in the village of Briones. The wine matured for 16 months in new French barriques, but this seems to have marked the wine less than in past vintages. 5,000 bottles were filled in December 2019.

The nose of the 2016 Gaminde is creamy, balsamic and spicy, with plenty of new oak undertones and ripe fruit without excess. This is a clean, modern, generously oaked Tempranillo, with plenty of tannins and oak-related flavors, and it needs a couple of years in bottle to digest the wood. It's nicely structured and shows power with balance in its style. 12,000 bottles. It was bottled in July 2018.

This red is ripe and concentrated. Bold fruit flavors of blackberry and currant mingle with cocoa, toast and licorice notes, giving this a jammy character that stays lively thanks to sweet-tart acidity. One of two new vineyard-designated reds produced for the first time in 2015, the 2015 Gaminde was sourced from a plot planted in Briones back in 1942 at 495 meters of altitude on clay and gravel soils. The bunches were selected, then the grapes were sorted by a new optical machine and put to ferment uncrushed in a French oak vat after a cold soak. Malolactic was in barrel followed by 16 months in new French barriques. This comes from red soils with clay, soils that tend to deliver more fruit-forward wines, a little baroque, juicy and tasty. It's quite fruit-driven, with glossy tannins, balsamic with more volume. A showy, ripe, modern Rioja with some lactic hints. 9,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2017.
