The 2019 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard Block UU has a nose of white peaches, beeswax, honeysuckle and roasted almonds. The palate is light-bodied and gently creamy, with a balancing tanginess to the acidity and a bright, citrusy finish.

The 2017 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard Block UU opens with notes of toast and a hint of gunflint, fleshing out on the nose to quince, baked yellow apple, peach and floral perfume with a touch of cream. Medium-bodied, it offers concentrated toasty fruits in the mouth and fresh acidity to lift the finish.

The 2016 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard Block Uu offers up notes of citrus pith, lime, buttered apples and grapefruit, followed by a medium-bodied, glossy palate underpinned by bright, mouthwatering acids. It has a nice sense of completeness and finishes quite long. It's also quite keenly priced.

The 2015 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard Block Uu reveals pleasant sulfide/struck match notes over a core of lemon curd, grapefruit and baking bread plus a waft of orange blossoms. Light to medium-bodied with a wicked backbone of racy acid, it delivers intense citrus and mineral layers with a nice perfumed lift to the finish.

The lemon, floral, citrus and crushed mint-scented 2014 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Block Uu has a touch of buttery richness in its medium-bodied, juicy, lively and nicely balanced style. Barrel-fermented and aged (10% new), it’s an outstanding Chardonnay to drink over the coming 4-5 years.
