A release of 16,000 bottles, the Giacomo Grimaldi 2017 Barolo shows clear and steady intensity, with a fine succession of wild berry, cherry, tilled earth, truffle and grilled herb aromas. There is some extra intensity and volume on the bouquet that may speak to the heat of the vintage that resulted in very concentrated fruit. However, the wine proves quite streamlined and lean to the palate. This suggests a medium-term drinking window as a result.

Though delicate in flavor, there is plenty of vibrant acidity and fine, dense tannins supporting this red. Strawberry, cherry, tar and eucalyptus flavors are the main themes. Finishes compact.
