The 2006 Barolo is a deeply-colored, firm wine. An initial burst of black cherries, plums, chocolate, spices and French oak fades pretty quickly as the wine loses its persistence on the mid-palate, exposing slightly firm tannins. The wine gains balance and focus in the glass, but looks to be an early drinking Barolo from Ferruccio Grimaldi. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021.
