The estate’s 2001 Tazzelenghe di Buttrio reveals pretty aromatics followed by generous spices, red cherries and truffles with notable persistence and a long, sweet finish. Medium in body yet full of flavor, this wine comes across as quite fresh and should offer terrific drinking over the next five to seven years. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2013.
Dorigo is located in Buttrio, in the province of Udine. The estate produces a variety of wines, although it is most famous for its reds. Today Pignolo has become a trendy variety to produce, but it was Dorigo who rescued this once nearly-forgotten grape from obscurity years ago. The estate’s Bordeaux-inspired Montsclapade is also often among the region’s top reds.
