The 2016 Bolgheri Bianco Criseo is unusually heavy and rich, thanks to extended aging on the lees. This wine represents a field blend of Vermentino, Fiano, Verdicchio, Mazoni Bianco and Petit Manseng from a single experimental vineyard called Campo Bianco (with 20-year-old vines). The grapes are co-fermented and undergo a couple years of aging. The bouquet presents orange peel, candy and flint stone. Despite the odd palate, however, the wine does bring nice intensity. Some 4,000 bottles were made.
