From sandy-pebbly sites in Courthezon, the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Sainte Vierge is 90% Grenache and 5% each Mourvèdre and Syrah, all aged in tank. Black cherries and licorice notes dominate the nose, while the full-bodied palate is attractively silky and fine and the finish shades gently toward dark chocolate. Supple enough to enjoy now, it should drink well for at least 5-6 years.
