This is a beauty of an all-Friuli blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Picolit and Moscato Giallo. The Livon 2017 Braide Alte is a super smooth and silky wine that makes a beautiful impression. This is an impressive effort with an incredibly rich and almost Baroque succession of orchard fruits, peaches, apples and tangerines. The wine stands out in terms of mouthfeel thanks to its silky and dense concentration. There are sweet almond notes on the close. I highly recommend this release of 15,000 bottles.

The 2016 Braide Alte delivers an intentionally heavy and unctuous personality with succulent flavors of canned peach, cantaloupe melon and acacia honey. This is a blend of 40% Sauvignon and 40% Chardonnay with smaller parts Picolit and Moscato Giallo. You definitely recognize the fragrances that are unique to oak-aged Sauvignon. You also recognize the sweetly floral aromas of the Moscato Giallo. The Chardonnay and Picolit add to the density and texture of the wine. This wine ages in barrel for up to ten months. Some 13,330 bottles were produced.

The 2011 Braide Alte (Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Picolit and Moscato Giallo) shows elaborate oak tones with toasted almond, dried apricot, subtle tones of mineral and white flower potpourri. This is an impressive and generous white wine with the structure, acidity and alcohol (14%) to pair with cod baked in a crust of sea salt. The wine should hold its own for three years or more.
