Sourced from the granitic soils around Mauve and Tournon, Chapoutier's 2020 Saint-Joseph Blanc Les Granilites features subtle toasted grain notes accenting pear and lemon. It's medium to full-bodied, clean, fresh, citrusy and certainly attractive, but it lacks a bit of richness and depth compared to the superb 2019 vintage.

Sourced from the largely granitic soils around Tournon and Mauves, the 2019 Saint-Joseph Blanc Les Granilites is a strong effort, showing remarkably intense flamed citrus zest and even marmalade-like scents on the nose. In the mouth, this full-bodied wine is round and generous, almost honeyed, yet finishes long and zesty, with attractively mouthwatering, briny echoes on the finish.

Showing more crushed stone and reserve than the Deschants, the 2018 Saint-Joseph Les Granilites Blanc still remains a fruit-driven wine. It's round and ample in the mouth, with layers of ripe tangerine, pineapple and melon that linger easily on the silky finish.

Toasted marshmallow and grilled melon notes appear on the nose of the 2017 Saint-Joseph Les Granilites Blanc. Full-bodied, rich and layered, it represents the next step up from the Deschants bottling. Sourced from the Tournon-Mauves area of the appellation, it's marked by the region's granitic soils, remaining fresh and long on the finish, despite being velvety in texture.

Produced from mainly estate grapes from around Tournon, Mauves and Saint-Joseph, the 2016 Saint Joseph les Granilites Blanc was raised in 60% oak and 40% stainless steel. It's medium to full-bodied with bold honey and quince notes on the nose and plenty of concentration and weight. It does push things a bit far on the long finish, where a hint of bitterness takes over.
