The 2001 R Vin de Table de France is produced entirely from Riesling, an illegal varietal in the Languedoc (which, according to the estate's importer, has resulted in the domaine having to pay fines to the French government), displays white fruit and mineral aromas. The wine possesses appealing richness and depth. It is reminiscent of a good Alsatian Riesling from a hot vintage. It exhibits a light to medium-bodied, spicy pear-filled character. Drink it over the next 3 years. Note: This is a special cuvee produced exclusively for the United States market with the assistance of the estate's American importer.Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel.
