Wonderful purity is on display in this mineral-driven, tart, racy and expressive Syrah from the estate vineyard. It would be easy to miss the complexity of this wine, as it comes out of the bottle tight and unyielding. Give it a chance—decant it—and scents of cured meat, game, dried herb and asphalt slowly emerge. Consistent with the Lake Chelan winery’s lineup of red wines, this young Syrah brings a lot of generous, berry-flavored primary fruits, softened tannins and a deep purple color.
