The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles (Récolte du Domaine) has turned out brilliantly, continuing this cuvée's consistent record of excellence. Mingling notes of pear and crisp yellow apple with hints of citrus oil, fresh bread and toasted almonds, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with a satiny attack that segues into a deep and nicely concentrated core, concluding with a long, saline finish. I suspect this will show even better with some bottle age.

Opening in the glass with notes of crisp yellow orchard fruit, Anjou pear, peach, honeycomb and buttered toast, the 2017 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles (Récolte du Domaine) is medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with an impressively racy spine of acidity, excellent concentration and a long, penetrating finish. Combining the amplitude of which this climat is capable with cut and tension that's impressive in an inherently sunny vintage, this is a terrific effort from Olivier Leflaive, derived from holdings that were formerly farmed and vinified by Domaine Leflaive.

Racy and intense, this white offers lemon, apple, vanilla and butterscotch aromas and flavors. Though lean, this is well-balanced, lingering with mineral,spice and citrus elements. Best from 2018 through 2026.

Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Leflaive's 2014 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Pucelles has a tightly wound bouquet, slightly chalky at first with a light marine influence. The palate is crisp and taut with a superb bead of acidity that keeps this on its tiptoes. This is linear and taut but so fresh and vibrant with a long, persistent gunflint/saline finish. Excellent...this simply shimmers in the glass.
