A small commune in the Gard, Signargues is an often-overlooked source for solid red wines. The PHM 2019 Cotes du Rhone Villages Signargues delvers ripe black cherries and blueberries, ample weight and richness on the full-bodied palate and a long, richly textured finish. I actually preferred it to this producer's Gigondas, although it may not be as long lived.

A 75-25 blend of Grenache and Syrah, the 2017 Cotes du Rhone Villages Signargues features dark, plummy fruit. Black cherries and ripe stone fruit join in, giving this full-bodied wine additional flavor interest. It's chewy and tannic, in need of a bit more time to come together, but it should drink well from 2019 - 2023.

Tasted out of barrel, but I’m sure a wine that will be a smoking value, the 2015 C?tes du Rh?ne Villages Signargues is a medium to full-bodied, impressively structured red that has loads of black and blue fruits, pepper, violets and a touch of earth-like aromas and flavors. I like its mid-palate depth, and it also has good acidity, all of which bode well for age-ability.

Made from 50% Grenache and the rest a mix of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan, the 2014 C?tes du Rh?ne Villages Signargues is another solid effort from this estate. Blackberries, currants, licorice and ground herbs all emerge from this medium-bodied, balanced and charming Southern Rh?ne that’s perfect for drinking anytime over the coming 4-5 years.

The 2013 C?tes du Rh?ne Villages Signargues, which is mostly Grenache, is textbook C?tes du Rh?ne with plenty of peppery dark fruits, violets and mineral aromas and flavors. It’s well-made, medium to full-bodied and shows surprising (and impressive) richness and depth in the vintage. Drink it over the coming 2-3 years.
