Only 180 cases of the 1999 Gewurztraminer Mambourg Selection de Grains Nobles were produced. (Sparr dedicated his oldest parcel of vines in the Mambourg Vineyard to crafting this wine, harvesting a paltry 19 h/h.) Botrytis, baked cherries, quince, and spices can be found in its intricate aromatic profile. Medium-bodied, intense, and mouth-coating, this wine is crammed with candied cherry, botrytis, rose water, and jellied lychee flavors. It is powerful, extremely long in the finish, and quite refined. Drink it over the next 10 years. Importers: William Deutsch and Sons, White Plains, NY; tel (914) 251-9463, and BCI, Evergreen, CO (for Wyoming and Colorado); Tel. (303) 674-2251.
