The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Poggiotondo is surprisingly thin and streamlined in a manner that is counterintuitive, considering this warm and fruit-forward vintage. The wine offers dried raspberry and wild strawberry with plum cake, resin and tar. Like the other Brunello releases from Centolani this year, I can't help but notice that this wine is more mature and evolved than it should be this early in the game. About 30,000 bottles were produced.

This red delivers cherry, strawberry, rose and mineral flavors, aligned with a firm, well-integrated matrix of acidity and tannins. A tad pinched in the end, but all the elements are there. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Poggiotondo is round and soft with a nice array of ripe cherry and blackberry. The mouthfeel is thin and streamlined with fine polish on the close. The wine shows medium persistence, but it does offer lots of bright fruit along the way. Some 80,000 bottles were produced.
