The 2016 Agrícola Tinto is a new red from a single vineyard planted with mixed varieties like it was done in yesteryear in warm regions like Monterrei. The vineyard has Bastardo (Trousseau), Zamarrica, Carabu?enta (Touriga Nacional), Brancellao, Sousón, Caí?o Longo, Caí?o Redondo, Dona Blanca and Alicante Bouschet vines that were regrafted into a 20-year-old Bastardo vineyard. It fermented in stainless steel and matured in French oak barrels of different sizes. This is from a cooler year with less alcohol, and parts of the vineyard were replanted with higher acidity grapes, so the wine is cooler in general. It's still a baby, with some tannins that might need polishing, but this is tasty, harmonious and with great potential. 1,990 bottles produced.
