Coming from 117 year old vines planted in 1892, Richard Hamilton’s 2009 Centurion Shiraz has a very deep garnet-purple color and complex aromas of warm blackberries and cassis over brine, iron ore, cedar, freshly tilled humus, dried leaves, marmite on toast and smoked game. Full bodied and very concentrated in the mouth, it offers firm, finely grained tannins and a very long still very primary finish. Approachable now, it should cellar to 2020+.
