Last Tasted 8/92
Ampeau, who marches to the beat of a different drummer, often does not release top vintages of his white burgundies for 7-10 or more years. This offering, along with several other of his 1978s, is just now appearing in the marketplace! His 1978 Meursault-Charmes is still a young wine, with the tell-tale grilled nuts, baked apple, and buttery nose of a top white burgundy. Full-bodied, yet vividly fresh, with high acidity, this attractively textured, broad-shouldered wine should continue to drink well for 7-10 years.
