A brightly acidic, savory Sauvignon Blanc, rich and zesty in lemongrass, lime, gooseberry and white peach flavors, with a touch of white pepper. The firm spine of minerals comes from the vineyard. Absolutely brilliant (but sadly, there are only 250 cases of it) is the 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the block of vines planted in 1945, the 2005 Fume Blanc I Block. I think this is only available at the winery, but the wine shows beautiful stony, lemon oil notes intermixed with some honeysuckle, fig, and melon. A beautiful wine, you can almost taste the essence of the old vines in its concentration and intensity. Drink it over the next 3-4 years, although I suspect it might last even longer. Tel. The 57-year old Sauvignon Blanc parcel called I Block has produced a 2002 Fume Blanc I Block that is a beautifully textured, medium-bodied offering displaying the essence of honeyed grapefruit along with some lemon characteristics. Spicy, broad, medium-bodied, and intensely flavorful, this dry Sauvignon Blanc represents Mondavi’s interpretation of a white Graves. This beauty will drink well for 4-5 years. Tel.
