The 2006 Clearwater Chardonnay was matured in 30% new oak barrels plus one- and two-year-old barrels for 12 months. A plump, leesy nose with touches of lime and citrus fruits, the palate has a citrus entry, smooth mid-palate with hints of lemon curd and orange zest with good weight towards the finish. The oak is well handled though it perhaps lacks a little complexity, but it should drink well over 2-4 years.Located in Waipara, Canterbury, Sherwood Estate is owned by Dayne and Jill Sherwood, farming four vineyards in the locality and another four in Marlborough. “Clearwater” represents their premium, single vineyard range of winesImporter: Southern Starz, Huntington Beach, CA; tel.
