The 2012 Shea Vineyard 2012 was fermented in two fermenters without sulfur addition and is aged in French oak for 16 months, 20% new oak. It has a pretty bouquet, very pure with cranberry, wild strawberry and fig with a touch of honey and marmalade lending a little exoticism, the leitmotif of the growing season. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannin, dusky black fruit, well-judged acidity, but surprisingly backward toward the finish. There is good density to this Pinot Noir, a firm backbone with sufficient salinity on the finish to urge another sip.
