Intense aromas of immensely sweet red cherries and blueberries emanate from the glass of the 2003 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard. A medium to full-bodied wine that requires chewing, not drinking, it is thick, densely packed with candied fruit, and chunky. Blackberries, red cherries, freshly laid road tar, licorice, Asian spices, and cassis can all be found in its impressively nuanced character. This powerful effort should be enjoyed between 2008 and 2015.
It is heartening to see that Mark Vlossak, St.-Innocent’s winemaker and co-owner, has maintained reasonable prices even after having received considerable praise for his wines over the years.
