Much fruitier, softer, and charming is the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, which has plenty of damp earth, cedar, black currant and sweet cherry notes in a soft, plush style. It can be drunk now and over the next 12 or so years. This top Zinfandel specialist has been producing Cabernet Sauvignon from this estate, and all three of these wines are very good.Tel. This ambitious wine is enormously ripe and intense in blackberry fruit, with oak bringing a delicious coat of sweet toast. There’s a minerality that must come from the earth, and the tannins are lush and supportive. It’s a noble wine, but feels disappointingly soft. ——S.H.(12/31/2011)—— 88

The 2006 exhibits blueberry, black currant fruit, a dark ruby/purple color, some loamy, earthy notes, moderate tannin, and a well-built, ageworthy character. It will probably benefit from several years of bottle age and keep for 15 years.
