The 2008 Ars Nova is a 40/40/20 blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot aged for two years in concrete vats and nine months in French oak barrels. This is again dominated by the aromatics of the Bordeaux grapes and their peppery personality, with some harsh tannins that are a bit worrying at age six. Drink now-2017.
Tandem is a new name in Navarra, created in 2003 in the Yerri Valley, where soils are rich in clay and their 22 hectares of vineyards are located at 600 meters altitude. The wines are moved by gravity and mature for at least two years in underground concrete vats. I didn’t have the chance to taste their top wine, the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Ars Memoria.
