Tasted at the Armagh Hut with Sam and Tom Barry, the 2007 The Florita Riesling has so much power and density of fruit! Wow. There is toast, honeysuckle, some matcha, fennel flowers and clove bud. There is star anise and preserved lemon brine, and the whole dang thing is just so long! This is a great wine—developing and brilliant. It has notes of yellow fruits and is exotic. The phenolics are so good here. 2007 was the hottest, driest year. This had broad, hard phenolic as a young wine. It is phenolic-driven.

The 2007 The Florita Riesling is more evolved and is just a little flat and dull compared to the others. This was a warmer, more challenging vintage with drought conditions. As such, the palate lacks complexity and is evolving quickly. Drink up now. No wine was made in the following 2006 vintage due to rains and grape-splitting at harvest time.
