An enjoyable effort that’s made from 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and a splash of Mourvedre, the 2013 Gigondas has plenty of black currants, funky earth, licorice and herbs in its medium-bodied, nicely textured, fruity style. Drink it over the coming 4-5 years.

Bright and racy in feel, with high-pitched red currant, cherry and raspberry coulis notes, laced with violet, white pepper and chalk details. The long, youthfully taut finish should settle in with mid-term cellaring.
