One of my favorites of this portfolio is the 2001 Zinfandel Home Ranch (2,400 cases). A powerful, deep, richly fruity, full-bodied, opulently-textured offering, it boasts oodles of black cherry, raspberry, and currant fruit interwoven with incense, spice box, and pepper. This dense, chewy, beautifully pure Zinfandel should drink well for 7-8 years. Kudos to the Seghesio family. For the price/quality ratio, these are some of the finest Zinfandels being produced in California. A fairly full-on wine, with lots of body and rich, ripe tannins. Hints of bright berry, stewed fruit, plum and spice notes mark the wine, which is fairly bright on the finish, though moderate in length.——W.E.(11/1/2003)—— 87
