Made from 90% Bobal and 10% Syrah, the 2010 Signo Bobal was aged in 85% French and 15% American oak. This big, expressive, exuberant, fruit-driven wine offers up copious amounts of black cherry and black currant fruit intertwined with hints of floral and forest floor notes. Ripe, rich and full-bodied, this delicious Bobal should drink well for at least 4-5 years. I often have mixed emotions about Bobal as a serious wine, but this 2010 is beautiful.
This winery was founded in 2001 by one of Spain's leading journalists and wine authorities, Victor de la Serna, who is, in large part, responsible for putting Manchuela on the map, particularly with his flagship wines, the Finca Sandoval and Finca Sandoval Cuvee TNS. These two offerings represent his less expensive cuvees, and both are outstanding.
