The 2005 Pinot Noir Rincon Vineyard has concentrated kirsch, raspberry, and currant notes with some background earth and oak. Much like the other wines, the acidity is high, the wine tightly knit, rather ungiving and lean, but at the same time, it is very promising because of the purity and depth one can sense. This is the biggest and ripest of Talley’s Pinots, the kind some criticize as Rhone-like. Yes, it’s full-bodied, and you might mistake it for Grenache, with its cherry flavors and voluminous tannins.
