When I saw Rene Leclerc in September he expressed his disappointment that he no longer had an American importer. What a shame! He has produced two superb wines in 1990 and the remainder of his portfolio is sound. His Gevrey-Chambertin-Clos Prieur reveals a dense, plummy color, a big, pruny, earthy nose, long, deep, over-ripe flavors, full body, and plenty of alcohol, glycerin, and tannin in the finish. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. All of Rene Leclerc's wines are bottled with no filtration.
