In particular, the Dolcetto d’Alba is usually one of my favorite wines in his lineup. This 2006 is a powerful, structured wine packed with mentholated dark fruit, licorice and spices that captures the essence of Monforte terroir in a glass. The wine has more than enough stuffing to stand up to the heartiest of foods. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011.
Giacomo Grimaldi makes a wide variety of wines, but I often find myself gravitating towards the lower end of his range, as the wines come across as less showy.
