The 2010 Domaine de Pere et Fille Plan de Dieu Cotes du Rhone-Villages offers copious amounts of black fruits, strawberries and cherries in a naked, but beautifully textured expression of Cotes du Rhone. Aged in truncated oak vats, it is a blend of 80% Grenache and the rest Syrah and Mourvedre. Licorice, black currant, cherry and garrigue scents emerge from this classic wine of Provence. Enjoy it over the next 5-7 years.
These are both terrific offerings from the Jaboulet firm, which is enjoying a renaissance under the relatively new ownership of the Frey family (who also own Chateau La Lagune in Bordeaux and are major stockholders in the Champagne house of Billecart-Salmon).
