The 2009 Parcela 5 is a clean, modern red, with a nicely perfumed nose mixing red fruit and spices. The palate reveals a good wine, easy to drink, with good balance and persistence and a slightly dry finish. Drink 2014-2016. I must admit I was a little puzzled by such a wide portfolio from Luis Alegre, which I didn’t know very well, and I was greatly surprised to find some superb wines, including one of my favorite oak-aged whites, and some others that I found excessively oaky and similar to each other. (all tempranillo, from biodynamically farmed vines): Vivid ruby. Raspberry, rose pastille, smoky minerals and a spicy nuance on the perfumed nose. Sweet, supple and seamless, with flavors of red berry preserves and cola. At once powerful and lively, showing no excess fat. Only hints at the superripeness of the vintage, finishing with excellent breadth, smooth tannins and strong cling.
