With crushed stone and granite, the 2009 Aglianico del Vulture Basilisco slowly opens to tertiary aromas and a pretty sense of evolution. The bouquet presents dried flower, pressed rose, old spice, leather and aged tobacco. Roasted coffee bean or espresso also make successful appearances. My only hesitation is the mouthfeel that does not appear as persistent or generous as I would expect of Aglianico del Vulture. The power is there, but not the length.
