Its bigger sibling, the 2011 Quintus is a richer, broader, deeper wine displaying a similar character. Raspberry, cherry, lead pencil and mineral notes dominate this deep ruby/purple-colored 2011. Medium-bodied with sweet tannin and up-front appeal, it should drink well for a decade. There are high expectations for this new project of the Domaines Clarence Dillon (formerly known as Tertre Daugay). It will be interesting to follow the evolution of these wines given the brilliance of the winemaking team at La Mission-Haut-Brion and Haut-Brion.

Lovely berry and plum character with sweet tobacco, chocolate and leather. Full body and lightly chewy with just the right tension between tannins and fruit. Pretty finish with just a touch of wood at the end. Better in 2016.

89-91. Barrel sample. This wine is ripe and juicy, with full, soft tannins, jammy fruit and sweet plum flavors. It shows the acidity of the year with final notes of tobacco and smoke.
