The 1994 Ciro Rosso Classico is a simple, earthy, mouthfilling, medium-bodied wine that has never seen any oak. Its garnet/plummy color and sound, round, mouthfilling flavors make it an ideal country-styled wine that can be served without any pretense. Spicy, with a southern Rhone-like straightforwardness and satisfying quality; it should be drunk over the next several years. This wine is made from the Gaglioppo grape, which is believed to have been first planted in this area in the boot of Italy by the ancient Greeks.
