The 2011 Mibal Joven has a clean, pure, almost Gamay-like exuberance on the bouquet. The palate is fresh and clean with crisp, tobacco-tinged black fruit. It is harmonious; simple but delicious. Not a wine you would think about, at least only when the bottle is empty (which it will be.) Drink now-2015. Hornillos Ballesteros is a small winery located in the town of Roa. They farm 40 hectares of vineyard but select 15 hectares for their own vines, the rest of the crop being sold off. The first young wine was in 2004. They have changed their philosophy using wood, reducing the new oak on the Crianza and using larger barrels, e.g. 225-liter to 300-liter.Importer: Ole Imports, Patrick Mata, New Rochelle, NY; tel.
