The price and quality rise considerably with the 2002 “G” Pago la Jara. Vinified in wood fermentation vats and aged 17 months in 100% new French oak, it is a sexy (my notes said “whore-like”), dense ruby/purple-colored wine boasting luxurious scents of sweet figs, black cherry jam, cigar box, and plums. Voluptuously-textured and opulent, with high glycerin, sweet tannin, and layers of fruit, this exuberant, flamboyantly-styled 2002 will drink well for 4-5 years.
